Recent Rescues by the Ark R.A.I.N. Sanctuary

1 Bengal/Siberian Tiger Cub
(We originally got an emergency call to take in several tigers, lions and cougars.
Due to the laws that we have to follow in Tennessee, we were unable to take the adult cats on short notice.  We referred the calls to other sanctuaries, one of which called us a few months later and said that one female tiger he had rescued was pregnant.  He asked if we could take one of the cubs when they were born.  We went through the necessary steps here in Tennessee to get approval to take in the cub and a few weeks later she was here!  All of the other cubs were placed in various sanctuaries around the country.)

1 Green Grivet Monkey
(This monkey was well cared for by the owner which had the knowledge, the time and the money to care for her.  The owner realized that she would be happier in a natural habitat with other monkeys.  She was donated along with tons of food and toys from her loving owner.  What a blessing!)

1 Coatimundi
(This poor baby was abandoned and left to die by her uncaring owner when he moved.  The landlord took care of her for a while then the new tenant tried to care for her but realized the animal needed a lot of specialized care that she did not have the time or experience to give.  She was kind enough to search for a good home for her and found our website.  The Coatimundi had frostbite on her tail and some reversible skin conditions, overgrown claws and patches of hair missing at the time of the rescue from neglect she suffered before this kind person took temporary care of her.)

1 Capuchin Monkey
(The owner did not have proper permits.  The options the state gave were euthanasia or placement at a USDA licensed facility out of the state.  Prior to this owner, this 37 year old monkey bounced around in a few abusive homes, losing an eye, being given alcohol to drink  and being housed in a cage hardly big enough to turn around in.  He came to us very malnourished, severely arthritic and with liver and thyroid damage.)

1 Silver Fox
(This fox was rescued from the fur trade.)

2 Arctic Fox
(These fox were both purchased as pets by seperate owners who eventually contacted our Sanctuary to take them in after realizing that they do NOT make good house pets.)

1 Coatimundi
(The owner decided after keeping him for a few years that he would be happier at our Sanctuary with other coatis and a larger area to roam.  He came to us slightly malnourished and with a skin condition.  The owner was loving and fed him the foods that he thought was right, but his nutritional needs were not completely met.)

Iguanas, Iguanas and More Iguanas!
(We continually get calls to take in iguanas.  Most of the iguanas come from homes that could no longer keep them after they grew too large for the owners to handle.  Most of the iguanas that come to us are untamed and malnourished.  Some beyond help.  We spend endless hours though trying to rehabilitate and save them.)

MORE TO COME!!!!

Please help us with your donations so that we can care for everyone at our Sanctuary and rescue more creatures that deserve a loving home!
Thank You

We have also helped place many creatures at other licensed facilities such as; lions, tigers, cougars, wolves and bears that we were unable to take into our Sanctuary due to space limitations at that time.

Please call and ask how you can help us rescue more creatures with our "Project on the Move".
